CAF launches Economy and Development Report, focusing on Latin American integration
Fundação Getulio Vargas’ International Affairs Division (FGV DINT) is hosting an event at which the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) will present its 2021 Economy and Development Report. The document, whose theme is “Pathways to Integration: Trade Facilitation, Infrastructure and Global Value Chains,” will be launched on August 31 at 9 am, and the event will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel.
The report assesses the impact of trade liberalization policies implemented in Latin America over the last 30 years and provides expert analysis on the region’s challenges and potential in the pursuit of a greater presence in global markets.
The document is underpinned by a study, which points out ways to develop and implement an agenda of greater trade integration and liberalization in order to boost the region’s social and economic development. Based on this study’s results, the report proposes measures in three specific areas – trade facilitation, improvements to physical infrastructure, and productive integration – to achieve this objective.
The event will be attended by CAF’s president, Sergio Díaz-Granados, and the bank’s corporate vice president of strategic programming, Christian Asinelli.
After the 2021 Economy and Development Report has been presented, there will be a panel discussion featuring professors and researchers, including Emanuel Ornelas of FGV EESP, Mauricio Tolmasquim of COPPE UFRJ and Pedro Silva Barros of IPEA.
