Call for papers: Environmental Governance is the subject of a special call for papers
The Public Management and Citizenship Journal (CGPC) is in the open call for the special edition in Environmental Governance. Entitled “Governança Ambiental: Novos desafios na gestão” (“Environmental Governance: New Challenges in Management”), the call is being organized by professors Cristina Adams (USP-EACH, IEE), Evandro Mateus Moretto (USP-EACH, IEE), Zilma Borges (FGV EAESP) and Célia Regina T. Futemma (UNICAMP-NEPAM), and submissions will be accepted until September 2, 2019.
The purpose of this special call is to gather papers that discuss central issues to the contemporary field of Environmental Governance in Brazil, which concerns the processes and institutions through which social agents organize and make decisions about the use of natural resources. According to the organizers, the complexity and the interscalar nature of socio-environmental problems pose challenges that require coordinated action between the state and society to move towards sustainable and socially just development.
In recent years, the area has faced an agenda of deconstruction of important environmental institutional frameworks, such as the repeal of the Forest Code, the deactivation of Protected Areas in the Amazon Rainforest, the proposals to reverse the Licensing and Environmental Impact Assessment and, more recently, the changes in the Brazilian Forest Service, at FUNAI, ICMBIO and IBAMA itself, in addition to the exoneration of relevant technical staff, experts say.
The CGPC is published by Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (EAESP). The full call is available on the website.
