Closing event presents results of pioneering organizational immersion initiative
On October 2, at the FGV Cultural Center, the FGV´s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE) presented the results of challenges posed by its partner organizations to students in the pioneering Field Project.
This project was designed by FGV EBAPE’s Undergraduate Administration Center in 2015. At first, there were just two partners and the goal was to give students in the third and fourth periods of their courses their first experience in an organizational environment.
Over time, the project evolved, new partners came on board, and increasingly challenging management issues were posed. In 2018, what had been a complementary activity became a mandatory curriculum component of the school’s administration course, called “Organizational Experiences,” aimed at students in their fourth period.
The project’s closing event was attended by Guilherme Takamine (OEM/FWS account manager, Shell Brasil), Gabriella Trigo (head of B2B division, B2W), Luis Pontes (lead consulting partner for telecom, media and technology, and for governments, EY), Marcos Valadão (product manager, Go Bilingual, Spot Educação), Marlon Wanderllich (founder and CEO, codeBuddy, Spot Educação), Paula Soffiatti (global sales incentives leader, IBM), Luciana Chagastelles (people director, Icatu), Amanda Medeiros (FGV EBAPE professor), Carla Soares (undergraduate academic coordinator, FGV EBAPE), and Henrique Heidtmann Neto (head of FGV EBAPE’s Undergraduate Administration Center).
According to student Ana Carolina de A. B. do Valle, “The field experience put us in contact with a company’s reality. In practice, not everything goes as planned and not everything follows the theory. During this two-month immersion, we had the chance to learn how to deal with these changes and transform each challenge into a lesson and a way of delivering a solution even better than what we initially planned.”
Paula Soffiatti, IBM’s sales incentives leader, said, “The students’ insights were incredible and extremely high level. We will set up a working group to implement the proposals developed by them. We will refine and implement the ideas in our team. I can’t wait to repeat this partnership.”
