Digital Roundtable talks about public security during COVID-19 pandemic
On Thursday, May 28, FGV Projetos will hold a webinar called “Public Security: How programs such as ‘RS Seguro’ are helping to tackle crises and improve integration with other government bodies.” The event’s participants will include Ranolfo Vieira Júnior, the deputy governor of Rio Grande do Sul and the state’s public security secretary. It is part of a series of weekly digital roundtables being held by FGV Projetos and the Brazilian Institute of Legal Studies on Infrastructure (IBEJI) to debate different subjects related to the COVID-19 crisis with market leaders and public managers.
The field of security has gone through some deep transformations during the pandemic. Accordingly, the roundtable will discuss the work being done to enforce the social distancing measures imposed by state and municipal governments, as well as the conditions faced by security officers who are exposed to contamination on the streets. The webinar will also debate changes in the profile of crimes, such as higher rates of domestic violence, and possible impacts following the crisis.
