FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) and the Rio de Janeiro School of Magistrates (EMERJ) are holding the lecture “Colaboração premiada e os novos acordos penais” (“Plea bargaining and new penal agreements”) on May 9. The event, which marks the launch of the books “Direito e Processo Penal – Reflexões Contemporâneas” (“Law and Criminal Procedure – Contemporary Reflections”) and “Reflexos Penais da Regulação – Volume II” (“Criminal Effects of Regulation – Volume II”), will be held at the EMERJ headquarters (Rua Dom Manuel, 25, Centro, Rio de Janeiro, RJ).

At the event, Professor Thiago Bottino, author of the books and undergraduate course coordinator at FGV Direito Rio, will be discussing plea bargaining and new criminal agreements with appeal judges José Muiños Piñero Filho (President of the EMERJ Law and Criminal Procedure Forum) and Luís Noronha Dantas.

Direito e Processo Penal – Reflexões Contemporâneas” (FGV Direito Rio/Juruá Editora) is the newest book by Thiago Bottino, bringing together the author’s recent work in the fields of law and academia, in the form of opinions and articles. The first ones are based on real problems, described in the beginning, for application of legal institutes to concrete cases. The articles, in turn, do the opposite, developing legal topics that will have practical application in cases.

In turn, “Reflexos Penais da Regulação – Volume II” (FGV Direito Rio/Juruá Editora), organized by Thiago Bottino, is the concrete result of the integration of three graduate programs: FGV Direito Rio, PUC-MG, and UNIFOR. The book brings together renowned studies developed in these programs, discussing the most current issues of economic criminal law.
