How to take part

This is the second year in which FGV EPPG is holding the Public Good Olympiad, and it will once again take the form of an essay competition. To take part, fill in the application form on our website, write an essay in accordance with the rules, and email the form and essay to obp.eppg@fgv.br.

Central theme

Our world has reached an unprecedented technological level. Laptops, tablets, e-books, bitcoin and many other tools have made life easier for the most “digitized” people, while other people seem to have problems accessing these resources and they are more marginalized than ever. Accordingly, the topic to be addressed this year is:

Technology and development

While digital companies are increasingly responsible for wealth creation, countries are responsible for protecting and preserving the public good. In this context, what does a “developed country” or “developed society” mean now? This is the central question to be answered in this essay.

Prizes

The top three ranking students in each grade, as well as their schools and teachers, will receive a certificate. The awards will be presented on a date to be announced on FGV EPPG’s website at an online conference. Depending on health conditions at the time and the public authorities’ guidelines, the awards ceremony may also take place in person. Students will be informed by email.
