FGV EMAp launches doctoral program in mathematical modeling
In order to enable scenario analysis and support decision making in situations involving the intensive use of data and information, the FGV´s School of Applied Mathematics (FGV EMAp) has just launched its Doctorate in Mathematical Modeling program. The selection process for the first group, which will begin in 2020, is open until November 1.
The Doctorate in Mathematical Modeling will provide a state-of-the-art academic education, aligned with the needs of modern society, in all mathematical applications to solve concrete problems. The course is also designed to train professionals with specific skills in different areas of mathematics and its applications. The program’s key distinctive feature is its focus on scientific research.
Under the coordination of Professor Hugo A. de la Cruz Cancino, the new course’s PhD students will be able to choose one of the following research areas: Finance and Risk, Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, Stochastic Models, and Control and Optimization.
The course is aimed at people who have a master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, applied mathematics, computing, engineering, physics, economics or a related area, who wish to work with academic, scientific and technological research at public or private sector institutions, supporting the decision-making process in any sphere.
