FGV innovates and issues digital diplomas for undergraduate courses
Fundação Getulio Vargas is innovating once again, combining tradition with technology. On July 5, the first digital diplomas were signed, registered and issued to students completing undergraduate administration courses and higher education technology courses at the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE) and the undergraduate economics course at the Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP).
The signing and registration of diplomas in digital format comply with Education Ministry regulations and the digital certification guidelines of the Brazilian Public Key Infrastructure Standard. These guidelines are designed to guarantee the authenticity, integrity, reliability, availability, traceability, legality and national validity of documents. Through an Education Ministry portal, people can consult and validate digital diplomas.
“Digitalization is increasingly present in the classroom and it has affected students’ relationship with education institutions. Digital diplomas provide benefits such as mobility, security, time optimization, cost reduction and less bureaucracy in the issuance process,” says Rodrigo Pamplona, FGV’s superintendent of academic operations.
Graduates can access their digital diploma on a mobile device and download the document at any time, as needed. Agility, practicality and security are some of the benefits for graduates.
The Digital Diploma Project was conducted by the Division of Operations’ Academic Records Office and ICT Systems Office, in partnership with the Office of the Provost for Education, Research and Graduate Studies.
