FGV launches Master’s degrees in Brasilia focusing on Public Policy and Economics
FGV’s School of Public Policy and Government (FGV EPPG) has just launched two Master’s programs in Brasilia: a Professional one, in Finance and Economics, and an Academic one, in Public Policy and Government. The courses aim to prepare current and future leaders to contribute to the country’s economic and social development. Registrations for both selection processes will be accepted until June 19.
Coordinated by Professor Nelson Barbosa, former Minister of Finance and Planning, the Professional Master’s Degree in Finance and Economics was created based on the successful experience of offering the same course outside the headquarters of FGV’s Sao Paulo School of Economics, which has operated since 2003 in the city of Sao Paulo, has the highest CAPES rating (5), and has already trained over 720 Masters since its inception. The course, now offered in Brasilia by FGV EPPG, aims to provide a solid analytical and quantitative training in emphases related to Economics or Finance for market professionals. Thus, participants have the opportunity to improve their academic training, being able to apply this new knowledge to their work routine, besides opening doors for development in the area of teaching in Higher Education. Its faculty, in addition to the professors of FGV EPPG, will include the professors of FGV EESP, a school with the maximum CAPES rating for its academic and professional courses.
In turn, the Academic Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Government is coordinated by Professor Gil Riella (FGV EPPG) and aims to contribute to the training of leaders who draft public policies adhering to the pressing needs of their citizens, applying public management methods at the forefront of knowledge. The course features a faculty trained at Harvard, HEC, Princeton, Stanford, Oxford, New York University, and the New School of Social Policy, among other institutions of excellence, and has one of the best academic production track-records in Brazil. The proposal is to train Masters who are connected with the global academic advancement and who are able to focus on studies with direct application to the real and pressing needs that are aligned with the real governance needs of organizations, whether in the improvement of public policy, enhancement of the administrative machinery, reducing corruption, or advancing in innovation and sustainability.
Both programs have a maximum duration of two years. The courses are composed of a set of required subjects, as well as electives selected by the students themselves. Classes begin in August.
