FGV’s advice to Brazilian Navy is accredited as Strategic Defense Product
FGV’s advice to the Brazilian Navy on obtaining naval assets has been accredited as a Strategic Defense Product. The Defense Ministry’s approval of this measure was published in the federal government’s official gazette of September 26, 2023.
Strategic Defense Products are all products (goods, services, construction work or information) used in final defense activities and deemed of strategic interest to national defense due to their technological content or because they are hard to obtain or indispensable.
Since 2011, FGV’s technical advice has been translated into technical and managerial activities to support the Brazilian Navy in the process of obtaining naval assets. This set of services encompasses two strategic Navy projects, namely the Submarine Development Program (PROSUB) and the Program to Acquire Four Tamandaré Class Frigates (PROSUPER).
Within the scope of the Submarine Development Program, FGV was selected to work on the development and application of a model to analyze a project compliance analysis model and to provide necessary advice on activities including financial execution, strategic project monitoring and training of Navy technicians to apply the developed methodology.
As part of the Program to Acquire Four Tamandaré Class Frigates, FGV initially provided technical and business intelligence support to the Navy’s Program Management Office, which is part of its Materials Department. This technical advice was structured around the production of a multidisciplinary business model, a Request for Proposals to select suppliers to work on building the frigates, and a model for selecting the winning bid and negotiating its details.
