From an Idea to a Business: free platform aims to help new entrepreneurs

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP) has just launched “From an Idea to a Business,” a free platform designed to aid the development of new enterprises. The initiative presents a set of tools to help entrepreneurs take their first steps in starting a new business.

The platform consists of three blocks. First, there is the Ideation block, containing tools to help entrepreneurs rethink the essence and focus of their business. The second step is Customer Development. Here, a launchpad shares tools to build businesses within Steve Blank’s customer development framework, as well as giving useful advice. Finally, the Business Fundamentals block presents all essential points needed in a business plan.

“The model was created inside FGV EAESP and it was tested and refined over the course of more than five years in the school’s undergraduate and graduate entrepreneurship subjects. The platform was then incorporated into the logic of the acceleration process of FGV Ventures, the school’s accelerator,” said Professor Gilberto Sarfati, of FGV EAESP.

He added that the initiative is a model for constructing new businesses adapted to Brazilian circumstances. “It contains fundamental steps for the initial phase of a business. Whether you are designing a technology startup or a traditional business, it will help you reflect on your first few steps. The website shares its entire model for free and it is aimed at contributing to the lean startup movement and the development of new businesses in Brazil,” he said.
