Immersion Week promotes practical activities for undergraduate students
Immersion week is one of the advantages of the undergraduate courses at FGV’s Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (EAESP). Held once every semester, the activity includes a number of optional courses that aim to bring students out of the conventional classroom environment and put things in practice.
Immersion week is supported by several partner companies and educational institutions, which offer a challenging environment that brings students out of their comfort zones. The last edition, which was held in September 2018, offered 28 courses that could be freely chosen by the students.
The diversification of activities is also a key advantage and goes beyond partnerships with companies, as in the “Marketing and consumer approach” (Ambev) and “Digital transformation” (Natura) courses. In an exercise focused on assessing social impact, the participants faced challenges with several small businesses, with the goal of affecting society with their work in the social and environmental areas.
There is also space for courses that work with the so-called soft skills, such as “drama”. Throughout the classes, the students develop behavioral skills that are increasingly valued by recruiters from major companies, such as presentation techniques, teamwork, and flexibility in decision making.
Another highlight is the Real Estate Business course, in which students need to understand how that market works in its various aspects, i.e., from luxury projects to popular housing programs, such as “Minha casa, minha vida”.
