Inflation by IPC-S increases in the last week of June
The CPI-S for June 30, 2019 varied by -0.02%, being 0.03 percentage points (p.p.) above the rate reported in the last disclosure. With this result, the indicator reached a cumulative increase of 2.41% in the year and 3.73% in the last 12 months.
In this calculation, four of the eight component expenditure classes of the index reported an increase in their variation rates. The main contribution came from the Food group (-0.42% to -0.09%). In this expenditure class, it is worth mentioning the behavior of the item vegetables and legumes, whose rate went from -3.06% to 0.34%.
The following groups also reported increases in their variation rates: Communication (0.06% to 0.24%), Education, Reading and Recreation (0.79% to 0.85%), and Clothing (0.40% to 0.49%). In these expenditure classes, it is worth mentioning the behavior of the items landline phone and Internet packs (0.24% to 0.91%), musical instruments (-1.10% to 0.21%), and clothing (0.45% to 0.58%).
In contrast, the groups Housing (0.13% to -0.10%), Transportation (-0.63% to -0.70%), Miscellaneous Expenses (-0.35% to -0.43%) and Health and Personal Care (0.42% to 0.41%) showed a decline in their variation rates. In these expenditure classes, it is worth mentioning the items residential electricity bill (-1.08% to -2.21%), gasoline (-2.04% to -2.53%), pet food (-0.64% to -1.78%), and medicines in general (0.34% to -0.05%).
