International seminar brings together public officials and experts to debate energy transition and integration

The shift to models that prioritize the use of renewable, sustainable sources and energy integration is an increasingly important subject on governmental agendas and it has been widely debated by sector specialists. To further develop knowledge of the topic by discussing innovative initiatives, the Ibero-American Association of Electricity Regulators (ARIAE) and Brazil’s National Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL), in partnership with the Catholic University of Chile and Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), will hold an International Seminar on the Energy Transition and Integration in Ibero-American Countries on September 27.

The event will take place at the FGV Cultural Center (Praia de Botafogo, 186, Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro), from 8:30 am to 6 pm. The participants will include the Brazilian mining and energy minister, Bento Albuquerque, the director general of ANEEL, André Pepitone, the president of Brazil’s national development bank, BNDES, Gustavo Montezano, and the president of the Itaipu hydroelectric power plant, General Joaquim Silva e Luna, among other public officials and sector experts.

The purpose of the event is to debate experiences of energy transition and integration across shared infrastructure, decarbonization of energy sources and the challenges involved in integrating renewable energy into the grid.
