Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School and the Minas Gerais State Court of Appeals are holding a seminar called “Law and the Economy After the Pandemic.” The speakers will include Justice Cármen Lúcia Antunes Rocha of the Federal Supreme Court. The event will take place on May 12, at 2 pm, in the Minas Gerais State Court of Appeals’ auditorium at Avenida Afonso Pena, 4001, Belo Horizonte. It will also be livestreamed.

During the seminar, academics, judges and representatives of civil society will discuss the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects on relations between law and the economy, in particular public and private contracts and new technologies. The event is being organized by the Rio de Janeiro Law School’s Project to Promote Knowledge of Law, Economics and Justice. Representatives of the judiciary, government and civil society will participate in it.

The debate will also feature the dean of the Rio de Janeiro Law School, Professor Sérgio Guerra; Paraná state attorney Vinicius Klein; Professor Luciano Timm of the Sao Paulo Law School; Professor Luca Belli of the Rio de Janeiro Law School, who is the coordinator of its Center for Technology and Society; Amanda Flávio de Oliveira, a lawyer and professor at the University of Brasilia; and Juliana Domingues, an attorney at the Brazilian Antitrust Regulatory Agency (CADE).

The moderators will be Minas Gerais State Court of Appeals judges Mariana Andrade and Sérgio Henrique Fernandes, as well as other court officials. Justice Cármen Lúcia Antunes Rocha of the Federal Supreme Court will give the keynote speech, ending the event.
