Labor Immigration Website is launched in Brasilia
On May 20, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Department of Public Policy Analysis (DAPP) participated in the official launch of the Labor Immigration Website of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, at the Tancredo Neves Auditorium of the Justice Palace, in Brasilia. The event provides the public with a digital tool that facilitates the processes for labor immigration to Brazil.
“The event has featured a series of efforts carried out over time to position immigration as an agenda capable of fostering the country’s development. The website meets a recommendation to facilitate and expedite processes using digital tools, in addition to increasing the transparency of public power,” said researcher Wagner Oliveira.
The methodology behind the website resulted from a partnership between FGV and the then Ministry of Labor. Researchers André Andrade and Wagner Oliveira joined the opening tables and the technical discussion roundtable entitled “Imigração como vetor de desenvolvimento” (“Immigration as a vector of development”), respectively, contemplating the history of experiences of FGV DAPP with its line of research on “Immigration and Development”.
This portal is intended for immigrants or potential immigrants seeking information on the processes of regularization and obtaining a residence permit, among other regulatory issues that are part of the immigration process. Despite the focus on labor immigration, the website also guides users in relation to other procedures such as family reunion, humanitarian care, and asylum. Additionally, it is possible to access data and information on the movement of immigrants in the Brazilian labor market through the DataMigra tool and follow up the immigration processes digitally through the MigranteWeb system, both integrated into the Website.
