The results of the National High School Exam (Enem) were disclosed last Friday, January 18. The exam is Brazil’s primary means to access higher education and has been given by the Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (Inep) for the last 20 years. The exam took place on November 4 and 11, 2018 and was taken by more than 5.5 million participants in 1,750 Brazilian municipalities. The purpose of the exam is to assess the performance of students at the end of high school. Besides being a university entrance exam, it is also a means of participating in the programs offered by the government, such as Sisu, Prouni, Pronatec and Fies. Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) has been part of the Enem consortium since 2017, alongside Fundação Cesgranrio.
