New book breaks down arbitration in public administration

The fields of mediation and arbitration have been growing in Brazil as an attempt to reduce the excessive and costly judicialization of everyday life. The professor from FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) launches the book “Arbitragem na Administração Pública” [Arbitration in Public Administration] on August 30 to address the subject and the benefits that the government stands to gain. The book signing session will be held at Livraria Travessa (Rua 7 de Setembro, 54. Centro, Rio de Janeiro/RJ), starting at 6 p.m. President of Centro Brasileiro de Mediação e Arbitragem (CBMA) and City Attorney in Rio de Janeiro, Schmidt uses his experience to explain arbitration in public administration and proposes clear and pragmatic general regulations to be used as a framework for the federal, state and municipal administrations. Gustavo da Rocha Schmidt holds a Bachelor's degree in Law from PUC-RJ, a Master of Laws degree from New York University School of Law, and a Master’s degree in Regulation Law from Direito Rio. He is also a partner at the law firm Schmidt, Lourenço & Kingston – Advogados Associados.
