What percentage of Brazil's National Congress was renewed? How many women were elected to the Executive and Legislative branches? Did the number of black people increase in Parliament? Were there a lot of protest votes in the October elections? What was the percentage of blank and null votes? These questions and many others can be answered in 15 seconds by the CepespData database, an initiative by FGV’s Center of Politics and Economics of the Public Sector (CEPESP).

CEPESP created the digital platform based on official data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), facilitating public access to information on elections since 1998. In the October 7 elections, we will be able to cross-check data on presidential candidates, senators, governors, federal representatives – including by municipality –, governors to obtain the information that the user needs. The platform also provides information on state representatives.

By the end of the year, CepespData will also provide information on funding, campaign spending and profiles of each candidate. With this data in hand, it will be easier to understand who will be entitled or not to the so-called barrier clause. Approved last October by Constitutional Amendment, the measure restricts political parties’ access to resources of the Partisan Fund, as well as radio and television time, with gradual requirements until 2030.

CepespData contains information about all presidents, governors, senators, federal representatives, state representatives, mayors and councilors elected in the last five elections.
