FGV is holding a webinar called “Smart Meters and Modernization of the Brazilian Power Sector.” This public event will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel on October 9, at 6 p.m. The webinar will debate the role of smart meters and regulatory improvements that could make it possible to open up the market to low-voltage consumers and modernize the Brazilian electricity sector. At the event, different visions of market players will be discussed, including regulatory measures and innovations that could speed up the rollout of smart meters in Brazil. The moderators will be Carlos Quintella, the director of FGV Energy; and Felipe Gonçalves, FGV Energy’s research superintendent. The speakers will be Marcos Aurélio Madureira da Silva, president of the Brazilian Association of Electricity Distributors (ABRADEE); Ana Paula Pacheco, CEO of Enel Distribuição Rio; Nelson Hubner, senior energy consultant, ENBPar board member, former mining and energy minister and former director general of the National Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL); Jerson Kelman, former professor at Rio de Janeiro Federal University, former ANEEL director general and former CEO of the Light group; and Carlos Alberto Mattar, ANEEL’s superintendent for regulation of electricity transmission and distribution services.
