Second Law and Technology Forum to debate artificial intelligence
Fundação Getulio Vargas, through FGV Knowledge’s Center for Judicial Innovation, Administration and Research (CIAPJ), is holding the Second Law and Technology Forum on October 3. The event will take place at the FGV Cultural Center (Praia de Botafogo, 186, Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro), starting at 9 am. The main theme of this edition will be challenges and prospects for the use and regulation of artificial intelligence in Brazil. The meeting will bring together public officials, academics and specialists to debate this subject.
The speakers will include Justice Luis Felipe Salomão of the Superior Court of Appeals, who is also an FGV professor, the head of internal affairs at the National Justice Council and the coordinator of CIAPJ; Justice Ricardo Villas Bôas Cueva of the Superior Court of Appeals; Senator Eduardo Gomes; Judge Caroline Tauk of the Regional Federal Court of the Second Region, who is also the academic coordinator of CIAPJ; Juliana Lopes, the head of Future Carbon Solutions; and Gustavo Meirelles, Grupo Alliar’s medical vice president.
The event will also be attended by José Leovigildo de Melo Coelho Filho, a researcher at CIAPJ; Professor Ana Frazão of the University of Brasilia; Professor Juliano Maranhão of the University of Sao Paulo; Priscilla Cruz, project coordinator at the Climatempo R&D Lab; Professor Renata Braga of Fluminense Federal University, who is a collaborating researcher at CIAPJ; and CIAPJ researcher Fernanda Bragança.
The forum will address important questions about existing artificial intelligence systems in Brazil, including their main challenges in terms of regulation, as well as current applications in the areas of health, the environment and smart cities.
FGV Knowledge’s Center for Judicial Innovation, Administration and Research aims to help improve the justice system through research, studies, publications, discussion forums and seminars, among other academic activities.
