Seminar proposes debate on quantitative economics and finance

This seminar shares an overview of the econometric techniques used to analyze and forecast macroeconomic variables and financial market risks.

The Center for Studies in Quantitative Economics and Finance (CEQEF) of FGV’s Sao Paulo School of Economics (EESP) and Timberlake Analytics Brasil will host the “2nd Quantitative Economics and Finance Seminar” on December 6, at 2 p.m. The event will be held on the sixth floor of the EESP building (Rua Itapeva, 474. Bela Vista, São Paulo/SP).

The growing complexity of financial markets over the last few decades has spurred the onset of new quantitative techniques and software, helping the financial sector with market risk forecasts and analyses.

This seminar shares an overview of the econometric techniques used to analyze and forecast macroeconomic variables and financial market risks.

Highly regarded professionals in the financial sector will provide a hands-on demonstration on how to use the industry’s most popular methods, including Pedro Valls (EESP), Tony Volpon (UBS), Carlos Kawall (Banco Safra), Emerson Marçal (EESP), Denísio Liberato (Banco do Brasil), Luis Fernando Azevedo (MZK Investimentos), and Marcelo Fonseca (Autonomy Capital). The Dean of EESP, professor Yoshiaki Nakano, will host the opening lecture.

The seminar is intended for professionals from the financial sector who are interested in acquiring or updating their econometric knowledge, as well as know-how on hands-on software applications to analyze and forecast macroeconomic variables and financial market risks.
