FGV has launched its undergraduate International Relations program in Sao Paulo, with 100 slots for the university entrance exam for the first half of 2019. The program has just been accredited by the Brazilian Department of Education, via an ordinance published on June 28 in the Brazilian Federal Register.

The program includes training in diplomacy and geopolitics, international economics, global finance, negotiation techniques in multicultural contexts, public policy evaluation methods and technological tools to manage large databases in online environments (Big Data).

“This is a very special moment for the entire FGV community”, said Celso Castro, Dean of the new school. “FGV has been a leader in the field of international relations for many years, and now we are taking a huge step to raise our status in this field of knowledge and help train a new generation of Brazilians qualified to pursue global careers”.

FGV’s new International Relations course offers a unique program in Brazil, focusing on state-of-the-art skills and competencies both regarding technology and knowledge. The course is suited for students interested in pursuing a global career. The program’s graduates are qualified to work in international organizations such as the UN, investment banks, non-governmental organizations, political risk consultancy companies, multinational corporations, communication and media companies, in addition to careers in applied research.

The program offers several opportunities for student exchange, immersion and volunteering abroad. A significant part of the subjects will be offered in English.

Applications for the International Relations university entrance exam will be received until October 9 on the FGV University Entrance Exam website, with special conditions for those who register until August 10. The exam will take place on November 18 through a single phase, with written exams for Brazilian Portuguese, English, history, geography, and logical-mathematical thinking, in addition to a written essay.

Applicants will be able to join the new undergraduate course through the University Entrance Exam (60 slots), the National High School Exam (Enem) (30 slots) or the international selection process (10 slots). Exam information is already available. Applicants who have graduated or are graduating from High School at public schools in Brazil or who have been awarded full scholarships at private institutions throughout High School may request exemption from the registration fee between September 17 and October 2.
