Urban sanitation and drainage processes are focus of online debate
The Center for Regulation and Infrastructure Studies (FGV CERI) is holding a webinar called “Urban Drainage Systems and Sanitation Projects” on May 31. The meeting will debate the possibility of incorporating urban drainage systems into sanitation projects and the implications of this. The public event will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel at 2 pm.
The speakers will look at technical and regulatory issues, exploring what happens when drainage is neglected and/or rainwater is not handled properly, as well as the possible use of concession models that include urban drainage services in water supply and sewage system projects.
The webinar will be moderated by the director of FGV CERI, Joisa Dutra, and FGV CERI associate researcher Luiz Firmino. The speakers will be Gabriel Fiuza de Bragança, deputy secretary at the Economy Ministry’s Infrastructure Development Secretariat; professors Marcelo Gomes Miguez and Paulo Canedo of Rio de Janeiro Federal University; and Marcos Thadeu Abicaliu, a senior executive at New Development Bank.
