Valor 1000: event celebrates Brazil’s best companies
On August 20, Valor Econômico hosted the 19th edition of the Valor 1000 Awards, celebrating the 25 best companies in their respective sectors. The annual awards are conducted by the newspaper in partnership with Serasa Experian and the FGV´s Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP).
The overall winner this year was hospital company Rede D’Or São Luiz, which stood out for its performance over the last seven years. During this period, it has grown 25% a year on average, despite Brazil’s crisis. In the vehicles and auto parts category, the winner was Baterias Moura. The company’s managing director, Lucianaldo Geronimo Angelo, a student on FGV’s CEO Course, received the award from the hands of Professor Paulo Lemos, FGV’s director of executive education in Sao Paulo.
Figures from the Valor 1000 Ranking show that the net revenue of Brazil’s 1,000 largest companies amounted to R$4 trillion in 2018, up 12.9% in real terms from the previous year.
FGV, through FGV EAESP’s Finance Research Center (FGVcef), works with Serasa Experian to analyze the data that determines the annual ranking. The center is responsible for designing and validating the criteria for analyzing the 1,000 companies covered by Valor 1000, in order to choose a leader in each sector. FGV also participates in the jury that elects each year’s overall winner.
