Webinar marks launch of book “School Management in Brazil”
On September 3, FGV Press will hold a webinar to launch the digital version of the book “School Management in Brazil.” This work, an initiative of Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Center for the Development of Public Management and Educational Policy (FGV DGPE), will go public at an opportune and necessary moment. It was designed to help students and professionals in the field of school management, especially teachers who hold the functions of school directors and coordinators. The webinar will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 2 pm. It will feature the book’s authors, Sofia Lerche Vieira, Eloisa Maia Vidal and Jaana Flávia Fernandes Nogueira, as well as federal representative Antonio Idilvan de Lima Alencar. The moderator will be the director of FGV DGPE, Professor José Henrique Paim.
The book clearly presents essential information, encourages strategic reflection and explains the challenges involved in school management aimed at helping children and teenagers to learn throughout basic education. It analyzes education policy in depth, offering an opportune and strategic contribution when it comes to tackling key challenges in this area.
The brief introduction describes how the book is organized. After that, the authors explore the subjects of school planning and management, as well as education management. The teaching methodologies and curricula used by schools are core themes.
Relations management – a term that encompasses people management, democratic management, the relationship between school, families and community, and external partnerships – is also covered by the book. Other topics include administrative and financial management (an important subject as it helps school managers to ensure that central aspects occur properly) and management of education indicators.
Thus, the book seeks to contribute to the training of managers who are committed to the full administrative functioning of their school, in line with its social function of helping all students learn knowledge, competencies and skills.
