2023 Digitalized Hackathon: FGV employees receive awards for project presentations
The FGV Digitalized Hackathon and its awards are aimed at encouraging good practices and the adoption of innovations to solve problems in everyday work through the use of technological resources on which the training solutions available in the FGV Digitalized Program are based. This project is an initiative run by Fundação Getulio Vargas for all its employees and this year’s awards ceremony was attended by Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, the institution’s president.
The participants were FGV employees who took part in the Digitalized Program over a two-year period, completing Microsoft learning paths or any of the other educational solutions on offer.
This year’s awards ceremony for the program’s winners took place in the 12th-floor auditorium in FGV’s main building in Rio de Janeiro, on December 20, 2023. The three winning teams were presented with gifts and the members of the team that took first place also received vouchers to acquire Dell laptops.
Each team presented a project developed on the basis of the program and the experience of specific “pains” in their different areas of activity. First place went to a project called “Automated Flow for Badge Requests,” second place was won by the “WindSock” project, and third place went to “FGVforMe.” Each of these projects has had different impacts on FGV.
1st place: Automated Flow for Badge Requests
Team
- Adriana de Almeida Corrêa, Academic Management Department, FGV Executive Education
- Anna Caroline Barbutti Barretto Silva, Academic Management Department, FGV Executive Education
- Elvis dos Santos Pereira, Academic Management Department, FGV Executive Education
- Marcelo Pereira Rodrigues de Andrade, Academic Management Department, FGV Executive Education
- Viviane Franco da Silva, Academic Management Department, FGV Executive Education
About the project
Automated Flow for Badge Requests was created to facilitate the process of requesting badges while reducing problems such as rework, missed request deadlines, employees not being copied into request emails and information gaps, by organizing the process flow, from the people requesting certifications to the designers and proofreaders who work on customizing visual identities and the information contained in them. The project uses tools that people in the organization already have access to in the Microsoft 365 package (Excel, Word, Forms, Power Automate and Planner). The project has been fully operational for several months. The best thing about it is that it doesn’t cost FGV anything.
2nd place: WindSock
Team
- Carine Heckert, Planning, Control and Information Department, FGV Executive Education
- Rafaela Pereira, Executive Office, FGV Executive Education
- Viviane Azevedo, Executive Office, FGV Executive Education
About the project
Imagine processing the large amount of data resulting from student interactions in different courses in live format, using machine learning via Microsoft Azure, thereby making decision making at FGV more agile, allowing the organization to act more quickly to avoid problems such as complaints or student attrition. This is WindSock’s goal. As well as increasing satisfaction during courses through student engagement, this solution will also help strengthen the brand and increase product repurchases.
3rd place: FGVforMe
Team
Natália Caldas, Network Department, FGV Executive Education
About the project
The idea behind FGVforMe is to enhance the lead and newsletter databases for FGV Executive Education courses through a relationship network with personalized content. This will be done by selecting and recommending webinars and podcasts produced by FGV Executive Education in line with the profiles of interested parties, using machine learning. In this way, it will be possible to deliver materials to leads to promote brand loyalty, thereby strengthening their relationship with FGV and their desire to interact with the institution and its content.
The members of the “Automated Flow for Badge Requests” project’s team, who won the first prize – Adriana de Almeida, Anna Caroline Barbutti, Elvis dos Santos, Marcelo Pereira and Viviane Franco – thanked FGV for the opportunities created by the FGV Digitalized Program.
“We believe that this training is fundamental in terms of employees’ professional development and encouraging the search for innovative solutions with a major impact on the institution. Our project is an example of this. After doing the Digitalized Project’s learning paths and workshops, we were able to apply the knowledge acquired to tackle problems and harness opportunities that we had already been identifying in one of our workflows. We were delighted to hear that we came first. This victory provides recognition for our efforts and our commitment to innovation. We would also like to thank everyone who worked with us during this process,” they said in a joint statement.
