Data science is a set of computational, statistical and mathematical techniques that allow large amounts of data to be analyzed in order to extract knowledge. It uses techniques at the intersection of computing and statistics, such as machine learning, which in turn is one of the fundamental instruments for the advancement of artificial intelligence.

Given the growth of the internet and process automation, data can be found in practically all human activities, so data science can be applied everywhere, from medicine and urban planning to security, law and economics.

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Applied Mathematics (FGV EMAp) offers an undergraduate degree in data science and artificial intelligence, which was created to transform the professional horizons of Brazilian students who are interested in pursuing an innovative, modern and high-impact career in the modern world.

This is a program designed to equip students with the skills and competencies needed to work in technology, retail, investment banking, non-governmental organizations, consulting, multinational corporations, media and communications, or to pursue a career in research.

During the course, participants study topics related to machine learning, applied statistics, econometrics, quantitative finance, epidemiology, cryptocurrencies and big data, as well as research topics that intersect with areas such as politics, law, the social sciences and network science.

2023 university entrance exam
 

There are 62 available places on FGV EMAp’s undergraduate course in data science and artificial intelligence: 50 via FGV’s university entrance exam, 8 via the National High School Exam (ENEM) and 4 via international selection processes.

Application fee and deadline
 

Until 6 pm on October 21, the application fee is R$150. The same deadline and fee also apply to international selection processes.

If you wish to apply based on your results in ENEM, the application fee will be R$50 until 6 pm on January 6, 2023.
