Amazon Dialogues: webinar discusses sustainable entrepreneurship in Amazon

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) is holding a webinar about sustainable entrepreneurship in the Amazon. This free online debate, part of the “Amazon Dialogues” series, will take place on October 3, at 7 pm, on FGV's YouTube channel.
In this edition, Rebecca Garcia, the strategic planning director at GBR Componentes and the chairwoman of its Sustainability Council, and Joanna Martins, the CEO of Manioca Brasil, will share their experiences at sustainable enterprises, including their initiatives, investments and biggest challenges.
The moderators will be Márcio Holland, the coordinator of the Finance and Economics Master’s Program at FGV EESP; and Daniel Vargas, a professor at FGV EESP, the coordinator of FGV’s Bioeconomy Observatory and GVAgro’s research coordinator.
The Brazilian Amazon is a great source of investment opportunities, especially in terms of new sectors related to the bioeconomy and biotechnology and diversification of the industrial hub of Manaus. However, doing business in the region is a major challenge, due to its geographical conditions, the workforce’s low educational level, legal uncertainty and the lack of adequate infrastructure to access remote locations and the rest of the country.
The Amazon Dialogues is a digital platform to discuss topics related to sustainable socioeconomic development in the Brazilian Amazon with the whole of organized civil society.
