Annual event at Office of Federal Prosecution in Sao Paulo discusses democracy in the digital age

On October 2, the director of Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Department of Public Policy Analysis (FGV DAPP), Marco Aurélio Ruediger, participated in an event called “Democratic Dialogues,” hosted by the Office of Federal Prosecution in Sao Paulo. The debate, organized by the Federal Public Prosecutors’ Office Higher Education School, was about “Democracy in the Digital Age.” In addition to Ruediger, FGV DAPP researcher Vinícius Wu also spoke at the meeting.

Ruediger talked about FGV DAPP’s experience of elections and pro-democracy work, as well as challenges generated by the impact of social networks on political debate in society. In this context, he presented cases analyzed by the department and initiatives to combat disinformation.

Every year, this event debates subjects related to democracy. This year, simultaneous debates were held in Brasilia, Belém, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The debaters were made up of experienced professionals in different fields of activity.
