Applications open for professional master’s in public administration and business management

Until July 29, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE) will be accepting applications for its professional master’s in Public Administration (MAP) and Business Management (MEXI). These intensive and dynamic courses allow students to balance their studies with their professional activities, as well as international modules.

Both courses are designed for people with undergraduate degrees, in Brazil and abroad. The Master’s in Public Administration (MAP) is aimed at people who work for the government or are interested in this sector. The Master’s in Business Management – Intensive Group (MEXI) is intended for professionals who work or plan to work in private sector management. Both courses also prepare students for university teaching.

Applications must be made no later than 6 pm on July 29, on the indicated website. This is also the deadline for paying the R$150 application fee. The entire selection process will take place digitally. The documentation must be sent via the internet, and the test will occur online on August 9. Candidates who pass this stage will then have a remote interview. The final results will be announced in September.

To start with, there will be live classes on digital platforms between October and December of this year. Next year, in-person classes are scheduled to resume in FGV EBAPE’s main building in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, if the public health authorities permit this.

Both courses last 22 months and there will be just 12 in-person meetings. MAP’s subjects will be taught in one-week modules, with intervals of approximately six weeks between them. MEXI’s subjects will be delivered in 12 cycles, each lasting three days, with intervals of around five weeks between them.

“The students on these professional master’s courses will receive an academic master’s degree and they may subsequently do a doctorate if they wish. However, unlike regular academic master’s, these professional master’s courses are focused on solving society’s complex problems in the context in which people work, whether in public administration or business management,” explained Professor Roberto Pimenta, the head of FGV EBAPE’s Academic Education and Research Center.

FGV EBAPE is one of Brazil’s foremost administration schools. It has quality certifications from the world’s leading administration institutions, such as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), European Foundation for Management Development (EQUIS/EFMD) and International Commission on the Accreditation of Public Administration Education and Training Programs (ICAPA).
