Capes' results emphasize EBAPE's scientific production quality

The Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) released on December 10th, the result of the last triennial review (2010-2012) for the graduate courses offered in Brazil. EBAPE's academic and professional graduate programs increased their grades compared to the previous review - the Academic Master and Ph.D. programs scored grade 6, considered a level of excellence by Capes; and the Executive Master in Business Administration scored grade 5 - maximum score for professional level courses. From the 119 programs evaluated in the areas of Administration, Accounting and Tourism, only two grades 7 and three grades 6 were given - less than 5% of the total of programs. An important aspect addressed by the review refers to EBAPE's scientific production. The School ranked 1st in the production published in journals A1 and A2 - considered the highest leveled ones by Capes. Also, it received the highest absolute number of publications in journal A1, as well as in the ratio of publications by the number of professors of the faculty, both considering only publications A1 and A1 plus A2.For EBAPE's head of the Center for Academic Research and Training, Filipe Sobral, this result reflects the commitment of the School to be a national and international reference and Center of Academic Excellence. The main factors that contributed to the increase of the grade were the excellent skills of our faculty, the great number of scholarship students from CNPq (National Center for Scientific and Technological Development), high productivity in high impact publications, and the standard of our international programs. To be well evaluated on these requisites shows that we are on the right track, he said.A scale from 1 to 7 is assigned for each program. Grade 3 means a regular performance, 4 is associated with a good result and 5 is assigned to a program that reaches a very good level. Whereas the maximum grades 6 and 7 indicate a performance equivalent to high international standards. The evaluation of the stricto sensu graduate program has been performed by CAPES since 1976. In over nearly 40 years, it has established itself as a promotion instrument of great importance to the National System of Graduate Programs for Brazilian agencies and international organizations.
