Challenges for application of Basic Education Assessment System to be debated in FGV webinar

The importance of Brazil’s Basic Education Assessment System and the pros and cons of implementing it this year will be discussed in a webinar on June 1, at 6 pm, on FGV’s YouTube page, organized by FGV’s Center for the Development of Public Management and Educational Policy (FGV DGPE).

A panel of guest speakers will discuss this subject in the context of the ongoing pandemic, budgetary restrictions and the Education Ministry’s indecision, among other factors that are jeopardizing the Basic Education Assessment System’s application.

The speakers will be João Pedro Azevedo, World Bank lead economist and education statistics coordinator; Maria Inês Fini, the president of the National Association of Hybrid Basic Education (ANEBHI) and a former president of the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (INEP); and José Francisco Soares, emeritus professor at Minas Gerais Federal University and also a former president of INEP. The webinar’s opening remarks will be made by the director of FGV DGPE, Henrique Paim. The moderator will be FGV DGPE researcher João Marcelo Borges.
