Chinese Consulate pays tribute to professor for his contribution to relations with Brazil

The coordinator of the Brazil-China Studies Center at the FGV´s Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV Direito Rio), Professor Evandro Carvalho, was honored by China’s Consulate General on January 24th. The event, held to celebrate Chinese New Year, honored eight people from the State of Rio de Janeiro who have contributed to the development of relations between the Asian country and Brazil.

"This recognition from the Consulate General of China in Rio is a great joy for me. But it is important to say that I have received a lot of support from China to develop several projects that contribute to an updated and more accurate understanding of what China is today", the professor said.

The celebration also honored, among others, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella, state deputy Tia Ju, author of Law 7,471/16 that instituted the Chinese New Year in the State of Rio de Janeiro’s official calendar, and Uta Schwietzer, Vice -President of the Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIBC).
