Consumer inflation slows down, according to IBRE

The Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S) of March 22 presented a 0.83% change - 0.01 percentage points below the recorded rate of the last disclosure. In this calculation of the Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV/IBRE), five of the eight classes of expenditure that make up the index showed a decrease in their change rates. The largest contribution came from the Transportation group (from 0.90% to 0.78%). In this expenditure category, it is worth pointing out the behavior of the item urban bus fares, whose rate decrease from 1.45% to 0.95%.The following groups also reported a decrease in their change rates - Housing (from 0.65% to 0.63%), Communication (from 0.26% to 0.13%), Miscellaneous Expenses (from 0.39% to 0.33%) and Food (from 1.59% to 1.58%).On the other hand, the following groups reported an increase in their change rates - Education, Reading and Recreation (from 0.35% to 0.63%) and Health and Personal Care (from 0.46% to 0.50%). In the first class of expenditure, it is worth mentioning the behavior of airline tickets (from -7.75% to 2.93%), and in the second, sun lotions (from -1.98% to -0.04%), in this order.The Clothing group repeated the growth rate recorded in the last calculation, 0.36%. The main influences on the upward and downward directions came from the items ladies shoes (from -0.70% to 1.09%) and men's clothing (from 1.27% to 0.85%), respectively.The next calculation of the IPC-S - with data collected up to March 31 - will be disclosed on April 1.
