CPDP LatAm 2022 now accepting papers about artificial intelligence and data protection

The Center for Technology and Society (CTS) at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School is now accepting papers for CPDP LatAm 2022, which will focus on artificial intelligence and data protection in Latin America.

CPDP LatAm 2022 will prioritize papers related to the topics of artificial intelligence, automation and data protection in Latin America. CPDP LatAm 2022’s website sets out subcategories, including “Algorithmic Transparency,” “Ethical and/or Legal Approaches to AI,” “Analysis of Existing AI Services in Latin American Data Protection Systems” and “Big Data Analytics Oversight and Accountability Mechanisms.”

The selected papers will be subjected to peer review and the authors will be invited to organize sessions to present the results of their research during CPDP LatAm 2022. The authors of the chosen articles will also receive a free pass to attend CPDP LatAm 2022, as well as a research scholarship worth R$5,000.

The selected papers in English will be published in a special CPDP LatAm edition of the Computer Law & Security Review, edited by professors Luca Belli and Nicolo Zingales. Papers in Portuguese and Spanish that successfully pass the peer review process will be published in a special CPDP LatAm edition of Revista Brasileira de Direitos Fundamentais e Justiça (Qualis A2), edited by professors Danilo Doneda, Ingo Sarlet and Ivar Hartmann.

The first drafts of the papers (5,000 to 7,000 words) must be submitted by February 10, 2022, in Portuguese, English or Spanish.

CPDP LatAm 2022 will take place in FGV’s main building in Rio de Janeiro, in July 2022.
