CPDP LatAm 2023 now accepting papers about data protection, cooperation and innovation
The Center for Technology and Society (CTS) at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School is now accepting papers for this year’s edition of CPDP LatAm, a Latin American platform for discussing privacy, data protection and technology. The theme of CPDP LatAm 2023 is “Data Protection, Cooperation and Innovation in Latin America.” The event will take place on July 19 and 20, starting at 9 am, at the FGV Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro.
The call for proposals prioritizes articles related to data protection, cooperation and innovation in Latin America, especially data transfer mechanisms, adjustment mechanisms, regional and international data governance structures, multi-stakeholder bodies or initiatives dedicated to facilitating data governance, technologies that enhance privacy, data protection and privacy-enhancing technologies on Web3, and legaltech and lawtech approaches to data protection.
The authors of the selected work proposals will be invited to present their documents for confidential comments during the Latin American meeting of the Privacy Law Scholars Conference (PLSC), which will take place in August 2023.
Following peer review, the selected papers in English will be published in a special CPDP LatAm edition of the International Review of Law, Computers & Technology, edited by professors Luca Belli and Nicolo Zingales. Papers in Portuguese and Spanish that successfully pass the peer review process will be published in a special CPDP LatAm edition of Revista Brasileira de Direitos Fundamentais e Justiça (Qualis A1), edited by professors Laura Schertel Mendes, Ingo Sarlet and Ivar Hartmann.
The first drafts of the papers (5,000 to 7,000 words) must be submitted by June 5, 2023, in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
CPDP LatAm 2023 will be held in FGV’s main building in Rio de Janeiro on July 19 and 20. For more information, visit CPDP LatAm’s website.
