DIREITO GV promoted a meeting with the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Filippo Grandi, and the Minister of General Coordination of International Actions Against Hunger of the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations, Milton Rondó Filho, in order to discuss the political situation of Palestine refugees.

Mr. Grandi presented the difficulties of Gaza refugees to export their production, of the Lebanon's Palestinians who do not get permission to perform their professions, or even those who live in the middle of conflicts of other peoples, such as the Palestinians in Syria. The executive explained to the public the UNRWA's role in the region. ?The purpose of the agency is to provide opportunities to those people by means of education, housing, health, food and work empowerment.

Although working towards improving the refugees living conditions, the agency is not capable of creating on its own an environment that allows those people to achieve economic growth. The main challenge for the expansion of UNRWA is its limited budget. Taking that into consideration, the lecturer spoke about the meaning of donations from new actors, giving highlight to Brazil.

For the Minister Milton Rondó Filho, it is important that Brazil manage its assistance policies against hunger as constitutional guidelines, deeming the right to food as a human right, and including this as part of the country's foreign policy agenda. He also stated that the Brazilian contributions have fortunately been growing, giving as example the recent donation of resources to the Palestine region.
