Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV DIREITO RIO), and Universidad de Los Andes and Tulane University, from Colombia and United States, respectively, are offering the 4th Inter-American Law Competition on Sustainable Development - Moot Court Competition 2014. The competition aims at preparing lawyers to use the Human Rights Inter-American System as a forum to address the human rights violations in the Americas and the Caribbean. The project - idealized by the Law and Environment Center (CDMA) and by the Institutional Relations department of Rio de Janeiro Law School - provides law students of any institution in the world with the opportunity to participate in simulated trials, similar to those held in the Inter-American Human Rights Court, including the preparation of summaries and participation in oral claims. In this edition, the case focuses on tensions among the extraction of hydrocarbons, the environment and human rights. The 4th Inter-American Law Competition on Sustainable Development is the only competition of its kind in Brazil to be held in three languages (Portuguese, English and Spanish), with simultaneous translation, and it will take place in March 18th-24th, 2014. Registration is open until December 13. For more information, please click here.
