The professor at FGV's Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE), Kaizô Beltrão, participated today, August 22, at 10 am, in the seminar Functional capacity of the elderly: an analysis of Health supplements of PNAD with item response theory, held at the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), in Rio de Janeiro. Kaizô presented the results of his study - carried out in partnership with professors Moema De Poli Teixeira, Maria Isabel Coelho Alves Parahyba and Philip Fletcher - about the health conditions of the elderly population in Brazil, with an eye on the need of directing public policies and social debates at this audience. The analyses are based on the statistical processes conducted by IBGE, through the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD). The seminar was also a tribute to the recently deceased researcher of IBGE's Research Board (DPE), Isabel Parahyba. Please click here and check out the study (in Portuguese).
