EBAPE students conduct solidarity initiative
The undergraduate students of the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV/EBAPE) held last week, February 13, the solidarity initiative Lei Seca (Dry Law) Operation - Please Cooperate. Organized by the School's Academic Directory of Administration (DAA), the action - where freshmen distributed 5,000 flyers and pins about the operation in the surrounding areas of FGV's main offices in Rio - aimed at making drivers moved by the risks of drinking and driving.
The DAA's manager for sociocultural events, Marianna Miele, recalled that young people represent a large portion of traffic victims and that we must take responsibility when driving. The school has already lost some students in accidents. One of them had not even been drinking, but he was the victim of a drunk driver, she said.
In her opinion, besides raising people's awareness, Lei Seca is an important public policy tool. If accidents are reduced, more hospital beds are left, for example, she said.
According to the student João Guilherme Gozetto, the result of the action was quite positive. I was very happy because the people approached were talking about the subject. That's what we want - that they talk about it and become aware. The compliments to the initiative were very common, says João, one of the organizers of the university initiation.
The next solidarity action already has a date: March 31, when there will be the blood donation campaign ?Universitário Sangue Bom?, in partnership with Hemorio. On this date, between 9 am and 2 pm, FGV will be open to all those interested in donating blood.
