Economic, tax and regulatory models for smart cities
46214 – Economic, tax and regulatory models for smart cities
The Nucleus for Tax Law at the FGV Sao Paulo Law School, as part of a research group on digital economy taxation, is holding a free online debate called “Smart Cities: Development and Taxation.” The event will be held on June 23, 2021, at 10 am, on FGV’s YouTube channel.
Smart cities are set to revolutionize the urban environment and improve people’s quality of life. To achieve sustainable urban development, there must be joint efforts involving public policies on urban planning, the environment, the use of clean energy and new technologies, to improve the provision of public services and integrate cities with their people.
The event will discuss how economic, regulatory and tax factors can help capture new ideas regarding connectivity, social inclusion, sustainability and shared life in order to transform urban infrastructure and improve people’s daily lives.
The speakers will include Andriei Gutierrez, the director of regulatory and government affairs at IBM Brasil; Ana Claudia Beppu, a lawyer with a master’s in law and development from the FGV Sao Paulo Law School; and Stael Freire, a lawyer who is doing a master’s in tax law at the FGV Sao Paulo Law School. The opening remarks will be made by Betina Grupenmacher, a professor of tax law at Paraná Federal University.
