Errata: EAESP discusses innovation and competitiveness for the electricity sector

The Innovation Forum at FGV's School of Business Administration in São Paulo (EAESP) organized on June 6, in partnership with Global Approach Consulting (GAC-Brazil), the roundtable Innovation and competitiveness for the Brazilian electricity sector. The event was attended by ANEEL's Superintendent of Research, Development and Energy Efficiency, Máximo Luiz Pompermayer; EDP Brazil's Executive Manager of Mobility, João Brito Martins; CPFL Energia Group's Manager of Innovation, Vinicius Teixeira; and the Professor Goret Pereira Paulo. Goret said that without stronger competition among companies, the government should encourage innovation - which, despite all the efforts of agencies and governmental bodies, still does not happen at an optimal level. Regarding the prospects for investment in the electric sector between 2014 and 2021, she analyzed the plans to expand hydroelectric, wind power and gas thermal plants, as well as the profile of the future energy mix. Brazil has prioritized investments in hydroelectric power plants, but we have to consider the various problems involved: environmental licensing (time and cost), indigenous conflicts, and the 'come and go' of the regulation. We need to assess whether we have availability for private investment and available funds, said the professor, who finished off with the question: What are the effects of the instability of rules on long-term investments? EAESP's Professor, Gustavo Mirapalheta, also attended the event to moderate the debate said It is a pleasure for the Innovation Forum to support initiatives like this, which discuss innovation as an engine for the development of our country. The event took place at FGV in São Paulo.
