Event discusses compliance, anti-corruption and environmental disaster prevention policies
FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio), the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) and the Dom Helder Câmara Higher School (ESDHC) will be holding, on May 23-24, the seminar “Compliance e Combate à Corrupção – Políticas de Prevenção a Desastres Ambientais” (“Compliance and Fight Against Corruption – Environmental Disaster Prevention Policies”). The event will be held at ESDHC, in Belo Horizonte (Rua Álvares Maciel, 628, Santa Efigênia, Belo Horizonte, MG).
The purpose of the seminar is to discuss the various aspects of the economic activity of mining, its risks, and the mechanisms capable of avoiding or minimizing them. The event will be attended by José Adércio Leite Sampaio (Coordinator of the MPF Rio Doce Task Force), Professor Oscar Vilhena (Dean of FGV Direito SP), Kiwonghi Bizawu (Dom Helder Câmara Higher School) and Nívio de Freitas Silva Filho (Coordinator of the 4th Coordination and Review Chamber of MPF).
The panel “Integridade na Administração Pública” (“Integrity in Public Administration”), with the participation of Franclim Jorge Sobral de Brito (Dean of EMGE, Professor at ESDHC), Floriano de Azevedo Marques Neto (USP), Patrícia Sampaio (FGV Direito Rio), and João Carlos Figueiredo (CGU). The second panel will discuss “Compliance, mineração e meio ambiente” (“Compliance, mining and the environment”) by Beatriz Costa (ESDHC), Rômulo Silveira da Rocha Sampaio (FGV Direito Rio), Raquel Filgueiras Varoni (Attorney at Grupo Verde Ghaia), and Ana Luiza Garcia Campos (Federal University of Lavras).
The first day will also include the workshop “Responsabilidade Social Corporativa, due diligence e prevenção” (“Corporate Social Responsibility, due diligence and prevention”), given by Emir Calluf Filho (CCO, J&F), Marlon Jabbur (Partner of the forensic area of E&Y), and Felipe Saboya (Executive Manager at the Ethos Institute for Business and Social Responsibility).
On the second day of the event, the panel “Compliance fora da gaveta: panorama da implementação de programas de integridade no Brasil e lições do mundo” (“Compliance out of the drawer: an overview of the implementation of integrity programs in Brazil and lessons from the world”), featuring Antônio Maristrello Porto (Deputy Dean of FGV Direito Rio), Jay Darden (attorney at the firm Washington Paul Hastings, LLP), Luis Wielewicki (Sampaio Ferraz Advogados), Igor Tamasauskas (Bottini & Tamasauskas Advogados), and Cláudia Sanen (Transparency International Brazil).
The seminar will be concluded with the workshop “Compliance e Ética: Indicadores, Governança e Monitoramento” (“Compliance and Ethics: Indicators Governance and Monitoring”), with the participation of Mário Engler (FGV Direito SP), Ana Luiza Aranha (FGV-EESP and Transparency International Brazil), and Glaucia Terreo (Director – Focal Point of the Global Reporting Initiative in Brazil).
