The Finance Research Center (FGVcef) at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP) is holding a free online event on October 17, at 7 pm, to announce the winners of the 2022 FGV Investment Funds Guide Awards.

The FGV Investment Funds Guide is the oldest publication of its kind in Brazil, having been created in 1996 in partnership with Exame Magazine and run by FGVcef since 2000. This year saw the publication of the 23^rd edition of the guide, which selects Brazil’s best fund managers through meticulous analysis of the 1,500 largest investment funds available to the public. 

The funds are evaluated in line with various criteria, including Sharpe ratio, standard deviation and return on investment – all recognized by both academia and the markets as the best performance indicators for investment products. The funds are broken down into four categories – Fixed Income, Money Market, Shares and Multimarket – and in accordance with their target audience – Wholesale, High Income and Retail. The sample period is three years, ensuring a long enough time to look at the performance of different products.

Fund managers are split into three groups – Large, Specialist and Niche – based on their presence in different fund categories and the amount of assets under management. Large managers compete in four categories, while Specialists compete in between two and four, and Niche fund managers are in one or two. In this way, it is possible to guarantee a fair comparison between different market players.
