Federal government and private sector representatives take part in business forum on climate

The Center for Sustainability Studies at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP) is holding the Business Forum on Climate Change Adaptation. This public event will take place on June 26 and 27, at 9 a.m., at FGV in Sao Paulo.

The aim is to debate the relevance, progress and challenges of the adaptation and risk management agenda in the private sector through panel discussions, roundtables and presentations featuring guest speakers from the federal government, the private sector and the third sector.

Ministers, secretaries and advisors from the Environment and Climate Change Ministry, Ministry for Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Ministry for Science, Technology and Innovation and Ministry for Entrepreneurship, Micro and Small Businesses are confirmed speakers, as well as representatives of organizations such as CNI, CNSeg, ANBIMA, Embrapa, ANA, Moveinfra, EDP, LaClima, CDP, the Boticário Foundation, Ethos, the Global Compact and CEBDS.

Another highlight will be a presentation about the Brazilian government’s Climate Adaptation Plan, which is currently being drawn up. The attendees will learn about the plan’s structure and preliminary content, and they will also have the opportunity to participate in breakout sessions on the second day to discuss the plan and provide direct contributions to the federal government.

The forum aims to establish a new milestone on the agenda, boosting the process of supporting business strategies and consolidating the multi-sector network launched in 2013 at the Latin American Forum on Climate Change Adaptation. However, while in 2013 the aim was to raise awareness in the business community, it is now understood that it is necessary to mobilize leaders to take action and invest in adaptation measures anchored in robust strategies, focused not only on direct and short-term risks, but also on impacts and risks related to value chains and territories from a long-term perspective.
