Fellows in Rio program to award legal research scholarships
FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV Direito Rio) has published official information regarding the fifth edition of Fellows in Rio – a research grant program for PhD holders and candidates in Law in the field related to the activities of the School’s Master’s in Regulatory Law. Applicants must be involved in Master's degree activities and apply by July 6.
Two slots will be granted this year. One is for the applicant to work as a researcher in the “Consumer Relations and Alternative Means of Conflict Resolution” project – linked to the Center for Research in Law and Economics (CPDE), and the other is to participate in the “Big Data for Sustainable Urban Development” project – linked to the Center for Technology and Society (CTS).
The program will last six months and also allows selected researchers to give lectures to undergraduate and graduate courses on their subject of interest, in addition to joining research projects or writing papers in partnership with FGV Direito Rio professors. Through the Fellows in Rio program, participants can also teach short (10 hours) or long (30-60 hours) courses in English to the School’s students, among other activities. The grants amount to BRL 36,000 for PhD candidates and BRL 45,000 for PhD holders, covering the entire duration of the program.
The first editions received applications from major Brazilian and foreign universities, including USP, UnB, Uerj, UFPR, UFBA and PUC-RJ; Harvard, Yale and NYU (United States); SciencesPo and Sorbonne (France); London School of Economics and Oxford University (England); Universities of Hamburg, Heidelberg and Augsburg (Germany); Jindal University (India); and Universidad Austral (Argentina).
