FGV and 'Todos pela Educação' develop training program for parliamentary advisors
Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Center for the Development of Public Management and Educational Policy (FGV DGPE) and FGV In Company, in partnership with NGO "Todos pela Educação", have developed a program called “Education Management and Public Policies,” aimed at training legislative advisors on the following important topics related to education: Education Governance and Management, Education Public Policies, Comparative Education Policies, Education Legislation, Education Funding, and Education Statistics and Assessments.
According to the executive president of Todos pela Educação, Priscila Cruz, the course taught by FGV is part of one of the institution’s pillars, designed to ensure better performance in educational public policies based on the high-quality training of political actors. The idea is to train federal parliamentary advisors and thereby improve the performance of congressmen through more technical debates and legislative proposals.
The director of FGV DGPE and the program’s coordinator, José Henrique Paim, says, “Investing in the technical training of Congress’ parliamentary advisors means recognizing the important role of the legislative branch in the development of education governance and management.” According to João Lins, the director of FGV In Company, “It is an honor for FGV In Company to support Todos pela Educação in this project, which is so important for the country’s development.”
The political strategy manager of Todos pela Educação, Lucas Fernandes Hoogerbrugge, says “Contributing to the training of the staff members of lawmakers who are members of the education caucus is one of the educational activities of Todos pela Educação, led by its Government Relations area. These advisors carry out technical work and act as a bridge between parliamentarians and stakeholders, including representatives of civil society. By training advisors and party leaders, Todos pela Educação is directly contributing to their technical qualifications and indirectly helping to build more effective education policies.”
In October, Todos pela Educação started a new training course together with FGV on Education Management and Public Policies, focused on advisors to party leaders.
