FGV Art holds closing event for “The Fourth Constructive Generation in Rio de Janeiro” exhibition

“The Fourth Constructive Generation in Rio de Janeiro,” an exhibition curated by Paulo Herkenhoff, was a landmark event in many ways. A closing celebration or “finissage” will be held at FGV Art on February 24, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. With a schedule rich in art and culture, the meeting will feature a catalog launch, workshops, sound and visual activations, and a constructive marathon.

FGV Art’s first ever exhibition revealed the multiple directions that this new art space in Rio de Janeiro makes possible. Its overriding concern is to never dissociate art and reflection, esthetics and philosophy, feeling and thinking. FGV Art not only fosters relations between works of art and people, but also affirms itself as a space inscribed in its time, as a vector of contemporary Brazilian artistic production.

As well as being an exhibition venue, FGV Art is also propositional: Paulo Herkenhoff suggests an interpretation of art that takes place in the present and identifies the longevity of the constructive will in Rio de Janeiro, which in the 21st century has been transformed and impregnated with today’s urgent issues. It is no longer the same group of people who have a constructive will, as it has become more democratic and there are many different groups, centers, decentralizations and deconstructions.

The meeting will feature the following activities:

• Launch of exhibition catalog;
• Workshops with Julia Otomorinhori’õ and Antonio Ton;
• Constructive marathon with Toz, Julia Otomorinhori’õ, Miguel Afa, Antônio Ton, Adriana Maciel, Lucas Ururahy, Marcelo Monteiro, Luiz Baltar, Marcelo Macedo, Antonio Bokel, Amália Giacomini, Maria Mazzillo, Paulo Vivacqua, Guilherme Santos Silva, Deborah Engel, Traub Csekö, Heleno Bernardi, Joelington Rios, Alexandre Vogler, BOB N, Osvaldo Carvalho, Jefferson Medeiros, Adrianna eu, Thiago Ortiz, and Guilhermina Augusti;
• Sound intervention involving the “ECT BIS” artwork by BOB N, together with Taticocteau;
• Sound and visual activation involving the “Tocando o barco” artwork with Lucas Ururahy and guest artists.
