FGV DAPP, government and civil society organizations launch Open Data Reference Model
On October 1, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Department of Public Policy Analysis (FGV DAPP) launched the Open Data Reference Model. Developed together with government bodies and civil society organizations, the document is the outcome of work by actors responsible for executing Commitment 2 (Open Data Ecosystem) of the Fourth Brazilian Action Plan, within the scope of the Open Government Partnership (OGP).
“The main goal of the Reference Model is to guide managers and society as to the importance of open data usage and standardization to promote transparency and the open government agenda in Brazil,” says FGV DAPP researcher Beatriz Pinheiro.
The Open Data Reference Model is the cornerstone of Commitment 2. It aims to encourage and standardize open access to public data at the three levels of government (federal, state and municipal).
Since 2018, FGV DAPP has been part of Commitment 2 – Open Data Ecosystem – Monitoring and Execution. The objective is to collaboratively establish an Open Data Reference Model that promotes integration, training and awareness raising among society and the different levels of government based on mapping of social demands.
The document is the result of the efforts of FGV DAPP, the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU), the Center for Studies on Web Technologies (Ceweb.br) at the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry’s Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br), Open Knowledge Brasil (OKBr) and the Institute for Socioeconomic Studies (INESC).
The model is available free of charge here.
